LaRosa’s Building
Updated 4/3/26
Former LaRosa’s Building Acquisition and Redevelopment
Following the announcement that LaRosa’s Pizza would be vacating its longtime location and relocating further down Beechmont Avenue, the Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) was approached by a local developer about partnering on the acquisition and redevelopment of the existing building.
Recognizing the importance of this highly visible property within the Mt. Washington business district, MWCDC worked with the development partner to secure resources to help move the project forward. MWCDC successfully acquired the property through the Quick Strike grant administered by the City’s Department of Community and Economic Development.
The local developer and project partner will fund the entire redevelopment of the building, including tenant improvements, while MWCDC will play a key role in ensuring the project aligns with the long-term vision for the Mt. Washington business district.
Project Goals
Redevelop a key commercial property within the Mt. Washington business district
Attract a high-quality tenant that complements existing neighborhood businesses
Ensure community-focused redevelopment through MWCDC involvement in tenant selection
Community and Economic Impact
This redevelopment represents an important opportunity to strengthen the Mt. Washington business district. By revitalizing a prominent commercial site and bringing in a strong new tenant, the project will:
Support economic growth by increasing activity and spending within the district
Drive additional foot traffic to nearby businesses and restaurants
Build on recent successes, including the momentum created by Ice & Beer
Maintain local input in redevelopment decisions, with MWCDC retaining final approval on the tenant selection
Together, these efforts will help ensure the space is activated in a way that benefits both the neighborhood and the local economy. A special thanks to all of the folks at DCED that guided us through the grant process!
