Senior Affordable Housing

Updated 9/25/25

The Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) was approached by a local developer with an opportunity to bring much-needed senior affordable housing to our neighborhood. Together, we are partnering to deliver a development that will expand housing choices for seniors while strengthening the vibrancy of Mt. Washington.

Located at the corner of Beechmont Avenue and Ranchvale Drive, the project—named Belmar Hill of Mt. Washington—recently received a conditional commitment from the State of Ohio through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program. This support is a critical step in turning vision into reality.

Project Highlights

  • 54 units total: 37 one-bedroom and 17 two-bedroom apartments

  • Age-restricted: Residents must be 55 years or older

  • Affordable, not subsidized: Rents will be income and rent controlled to ensure long-term affordability for seniors

  • Neighborhood-friendly design: Although zoning could allow up to 125 units, the project is thoughtfully scaled to 54 apartments, balancing density while respecting the character of the area

Community Impact

Belmar Hill is more than just housing—it’s an investment in the future of Mt. Washington. The project will:

  • Support Aging in Place – Providing affordable, accessible homes allows longtime residents to remain in the community they know and love.

  • Enhance Walkability and Connectivity – With close access to transit (bus stop at site), Kroger, Walgreens, restaurants, and future connections to the Little Miami Scenic Trail, seniors will enjoy greater independence.

  • Strengthen the Business District – By bringing new residents near shops and services, the development supports the health of our local economy.

  • Activate a Key Property – Transforming an underutilized site into a vibrant senior community builds momentum for future investment.

Timeline

  • Spring 2026 – Construction begins

  • Fall 2027 – Completion and leasing

This development will transform a key site in Mt. Washington into a high-quality, affordable housing community for seniors. With access to nearby grocery stores, pharmacies, transit, and local businesses, Belmar Hill will allow older residents to age in place with independence and dignity.
